To educate parents how to feed their children healthier meals and snacks, save money on food, and reduce the risk of food borne illnesses. Participants learn how to save money on food, plan quick and easy meals for their family, prepare delicious and nutritious recipes and how to keep foods safe to eat. EFNEP also offers sessions for teenage mothers where they learn how to eat healthfully during pregnancy, evaluate whether breast feeding or bottle feeding is best for them and to feed their baby appropriately to help prevent childhood overweight. Also, workshops are offered for children and youth ages 4 to 18 years of age. These programs are offered through after school programs, Headstart, Pre-K and other agencies. Participants learn how to make healthy food choices, wash hands properly and how to prepare easy and healthy snacks. Participants receive a certificate after completion.
